Eight new constables join Lyttelton police to boost community safety
The latest intake of 184 Tshwane police members includes eight new constables at Lyttelton, joining the fight against crime.
Lyttelton police station will soon be strengthened by eight newly appointed constables who have completed their basic training and will help enhance policing services in the area.
The recruits are part of a larger intake of 184 members joining various police stations across the Tshwane District.
Police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk confirmed that the constables were officially welcomed during a parade hosted by Tshwane District Commissioner Major-General Samuel Thine on Friday, August 22.
He explained that the ceremony included a scripture reading, a prayer, and the recitation of the SAPS Code of Conduct, reaffirming the values and principles expected of all members.

Van Dyk noted that the Station Commander in Lyttelton, Brigadier M Toohey, delivered a message encouraging female members to embrace leadership roles and actively contribute to shaping the future of the district.
Brigadier Paballo Nkosi of Ga-Rankuwa police station spoke on the importance of discipline, integrity, and the urgent need to eradicate corruption within the service.
Van Dyk noted that Thine welcomed the constables during his keynote address and highlighted their crucial role as frontline officers and ambassadors for the police.
He added that the District Commissioner encouraged the new members to uphold integrity and professionalism at all times, sharing a vision of creating a safer Tshwane through the dedication of SAPS personnel.
