Pretoria Central detectives honoured

The station also received two new vehicles from the office of the Provincial Commissioner.

The Detective Branch of the Pretoria Central Police Station was honoured on September 5 for its efforts in improving the station’s national performance rankings.

The event was held at the Pioneers Museum, Keuning Drive, Silverton. There was a team-building initiative and an award ceremony for the members who performed their duties outstandingly.

“This was to celebrate a milestone in ensuring that the detection rate, and also improving the station performance for the past and current financial year.

“Other components, such as [visible policing] and support, also form part of taking the station out of the list of 30 underperforming stations,” said station spokesperson, Constable Thabang Nkhumise.

During his address, Station Commander Brigadier Hlengani Gibin Mashaba thanked his fellow members for their support, dignity, patriotism and for taking pride in their work.

“This should be a continuous effort by every member to ensure that the performance is maintained, and they excel at all times. I want to thank you all for good service delivery, ensuring that cases are properly investigated, and bringing perpetrators to justice,” Mashaba said.

Two VW Polos were also handed to the station by the office of the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni.

Certificates of achievement were handed over, and the recipients were:
– Crime office: Top performing Relief for 2025 went to A-Relief
– Upcoming constables at the crime office: Constables Mabuyane, Fillis, Mashao and Motsepe
– Most dedicated crime office member: Sergeant Tshambeya
– Top performing investigation group for 2025: General investigation group three (C3)
– Best dressed according to dress orders: Sergeant Marokane (female) and Sergeant Lekala (male).
– Top performing investigator: Sergeant Mdaka
– Upcoming new investigators: Constable Mayisela and Constable Van Rouen
– Most disciplined member: Sergeant Mphaga
– Most dedicated member: Sergeant Supe
– Most performing PSA Personnel members: Batwa (Head of data capture) , Masango (Data capture), Ngobeni (Data capture), and Machaka (Provincial data capture)
– Most dedicated PSA personnel member: Vermaak (Senior administration clerk)
– Most operational support member: Sergeant Lekala
– Top performing group commander: Warrant Officer Fourie
– The most achieved group commanders: Warrant Officer JM Mahlangu
– Reduction of wanted suspect and AFIS(link with fingerprints), Warrant Officer Nabal, and Warrant Officer Baloyi
– Most effective vehicle manager: General investigation: C3 Sergeant SJ Mahlangu
