Relief in Soshanguve as water returns
While they are grateful for the restoration of the water supply, community leaders have urged the metro to prioritise broader service delivery issues, from potholes to illegal dumping.
Block AA residents in Soshanguve have expressed relief following the prompt restoration of the water supply after a disruption caused by a broken pipe in Block F.
The interruption affected both Block AA and F, leaving households temporarily without access to water.
According to reports from Tshwane’s water utility department, the issue was identified quickly, and repair teams were dispatched to address the problem.
Residents have praised the maintenance crews, who worked diligently to restore water services in a short period.
“Finally, we can carry on with our daily routines without worrying about fetching water from elsewhere.
“The repair team did a great job, and it’s clear they understand the urgency of water supply issues in our community,” said Brenda Mahlangu.
She said, “It may seem like a small thing, but having water in your home makes a huge difference. We are grateful it was fixed so quickly”.

Community leader Raymond Mpheko also expressed relief but urged the metro to continue prioritising service delivery in the area.
“The community of Soshanguve are paying their accounts, and a lack of service delivery makes the community lose faith and trust in the municipality.
“They must render, attend, and prioritise the needs of the community. This is not just about water only, but issues like potholes, streetlight repairs, and illegal dumping must be addressed,” said Mpheko.
The metro also urged residents to use water sparingly as the municipality’s water systems are under pressure due to high demand.
Residents are urged not to water gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00, wash vehicles with a hosepipe, or fill swimming pools from the municipal water supply.
Manually topping up swimming pools is allowed only if the pool is fitted with a cover that prevents evaporation.
