Recognition for Cullinan residents’ ongoing role in crime prevention
Police commended a group of community members for their commitment to crime prevention, youth engagement, and ongoing efforts to improve local safety.
Ten people who have consistently demonstrated commitment to roles in community safety and well-being in Cullinan were honoured for their hard work at the Refilwe Community Hall on Tuesday.
The group was honoured by Cullinan police, under the leadership of Acting Station Commander Captain Jacques Leonard, with certificates of appreciation for their outstanding contribution to crime prevention.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Connie Moganedi said the group were honoured for their outstanding contributions to crime prevention.
Moganedi said the social crime prevention co-ordinator, together with the community policing officer, issued certificates of appreciation to selected individuals who have consistently demonstrated commitment to the safety and well-being of the community.
“The recipients included community patrollers, recognised for visibility patrols, operational support, and proactive involvement in safety initiatives,” said Moganedi.
Members of the youth crime prevention desk were also acknowledged for their youth engagement programmes and awareness campaigns addressing crime and social challenges.
She said the community wardens were commended for maintaining order and acting as crucial liaisons between residents, police officers, and police reservists, honoured for dedicated voluntary service during critical policing operations.
Moganedi said that, although conducted informally, the recognition served as a meaningful motivator and highlighted the value of partnership in combating crime.
She added that the management commended everyone who worked tirelessly and with dedication to ensure the safety of the community of Cullinan.
She concluded by encouraging the community to continue keeping a good working relationship with the police, and asking members of the community to continue reporting suspicious activities to the police on 08600 10111.
