Rain fails to dampen spirits at Fun Walk for Bibles
Participants walked in faith, fellowship, and a shared goal to provide bibles.
The outreach commission of the Dutch Reformed Church in Lyttelton-North held its very first “Fun Walk for Bibles” fundraising event on October 18.
Participants paid an entry fee of R50 per person and R30 for children as part of the fundraising event.
The event was held at Lifestyle Management Park, as it provides a safe venue for anyone wanting to go for a walk with or without walking aids.

One of the organisers, Henoch Schoeman, said the event took place in collaboration with the Bible Society of SA.
Each participant was given a Bible Society wristband and a medal for taking part, despite the rain.
Schoeman said Cert-SA, an NPO, supported the fun walk to provide well-equipped emergency medical assistance.
“Their presence was very comforting and greatly appreciated,” said Schoeman.

The organisers saw the long-awaited rain as a blessing, although they believe that many more participants would have joined the fun walk if the weather had been better.
“We are grateful for each participant and for their support in making a positive impact to generate funds that will be made available to persons in need of a bible,” Schoeman said.
“The commission thanks everyone who participated in the fun walk and contributed towards this cause.”
The enthusiasm of everyone made it a wonderful experience.

Schoeman concluded that the fundraising event will become an annual event.
The organisers would also like to thank the team for their hard work to make this event a success.
