Sip and paint session draws art enthusiasts in Garsfontein

Participants gathered for a relaxed art session aimed at exploring creativity in a social setting.

A sip and paint session took place on Saturday in Garsfontein, offering participants an opportunity to take part in a guided painting activity in a relaxed setting.

Painting instructor Melani Maritz said the session was hosted by Creative Room, which she established toward the end of 2023.

She explained that the initiative focuses on a range of creative activities for both adults and children.

“The activities offered for children include tie-dye, tacky decorating, cat painting and pottery, while adult activities extend beyond canvas painting to include table runners, wine glasses and tumblers,” said Maritz.

She added that public sip and paint sessions are not held weekly, as private functions are prioritised.

During the event, each participant worked on their own canvas and painted freely while soft music played in the background.

Attendee Pheziwe Ntseke said she enjoyed the experience despite having limited painting skills.

“I know what I want to paint, but I don’t really know how,” she said, adding that she attended the session after being invited by her friend, Senku Ramabula.
