Centurion rock-throwing incident leaves motorist injured
Videos and images shared by motorists on social media show the damage caused to their vehicles.
A motorist was left injured after a man allegedly hurled rocks at passing vehicles in Centurion on Monday afternoon.
Monitor Net Security spokesperson JP Le Roux said the incident occurred shortly after 17:00 along Migmatite and Hendrik Verwoerd drives in the Zwartkop area, near John Vorster Drive.
Le Roux confirmed that several vehicles travelling through the area were struck and damaged.
“We received information that one person was allegedly injured after a rock hit the vehicle they were travelling in, causing the glass to shatter,” he said.

It remains unclear whether the shattered glass came from the windscreen or a window. However, Le Roux stated that the individual was reportedly injured by the shards and was transported to a hospital for medical attention.
He added that one suspect was involved in the incident, although the motive behind the attack remains unknown.
“The suspect was apprehended and handed over to Lyttelton SAPS for further processing.”

The rock that caused the damage was visible on the vehicle’s dashboard.
In the video, the motorist explained that the incident occurred just off John Vorster Drive.
“A man was throwing rocks at cars coming from Old Joburg Road towards the highway. He caused damage, including a hole in my windscreen. Be careful and vigilant. I’m not sure of his motive,” the motorist said.
