E-hailing driver murder case to resume in June
The murder case of e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat (22) has been postponed to June as investigators continue gathering crucial evidence.
The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case of six people facing charges of premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances in the killing of 22-year-old e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat after they appeared on February 23.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), The matter has been rescheduled to June 3 to allow for further investigations.
The six accused include Dikeledi Tears Mphela, Goitsione Machidi, McClaren Mushwana, as well as the three other people recently added to the case, Tumishang Mogau Mabutla (23) and his girlfriend Ofentse Senwamadi (18), both from Atteridgeville, and Thabang Kenneth Mothwa (27) from Saulsville.
Mabutla faces charges of premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Senwamadi has been charged with premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances as an accessory after the fact, while Mothwa faces a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances as an accessory after the fact.
The six accused allegedly acted together to murder Satlat on February 11.
Following the killing, it is alleged that the group disposed of the victim’s body and handed his vehicle to Mothwa so that the tracker could be removed.
The three most recently accused were arrested on February 16, after police investigations linked them to the offences.
NPA regional spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana confirmed the postponement and emphasised the need for continued investigative work.
The previous court proceedings allowed the legal representatives of the accused to be formally recorded, and all six are expected to appear together when the case resumes.
The NPA continues to work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the investigation is thorough and that justice is served for the late Isaac Satlat.
