Titans stalwart receives top award
The chief operating officer of The Unlimited Titans, Patricia Kambarami, was awarded the GSport Woman of the Year crown.
Unlimited Titans COO Patricia Kambarami has entered the elite league of the foremost women administrators in sport.
She announced her arrival at an awards ceremony at the Wanderers Club in Illovo by winning the GSport Woman of the Year award last month, with a proud Minister of Sport and Recreation Fikile Mbalula watching on.
The award recognizes a formidable woman who is breaking barriers and making strides in the business of sport as administrator who have dedicated her life to the development and success of South African sport.
Kambarami is one of the founders of the Momentum eKasi Challenge and the SuperSport Park has risen to the number one ranked stadium in the country in 2015 under her watch.
Kambarami, previously the marketing and events manager of the Titans, was promoted to the position of chief operating officer for the franchise in 2014, which made her one of the most powerful women in South African sport.
SuperSport Park in Centurion is one of the country’s favourite cricket grounds, hosting T20-, One Day Internationals and test matches, as well as domestic games.
“The award is an endorsement of Patricia’s excellence as administrator and her ability to motivate and encourage her team to continuously pursue higher standards,” said Jacques Faul, CEO of the Titans.
“We at the Titans family are delighted about the achievement. We wish to congratulate her on this landmark-feat, which is well-deserved.
“One of the hallmarks of her career has been her focus and her commitment to service delivery that exceeds expectations.”
In 2003, Kambarami worked as venue assistant for World Sport Nimbus, an organization that managed the commercial property of the International Cricket Council at the Cricket World Cup in South Africa and Zimbabwe. When the position of marketing manager at the Titans became available, she successfully applied for the post. She started to work in Centurion in the same year. She also masterminded the conceptualization and practical implementation of the Momentum eKasi Challenge.
Kambarami holds an MBA from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom, as well as a certificate in sport events and project management from Wits University’s graduate school of business. She is currently enrolled in a Masters degree in Sports Law through the De Montfort University in Leicester.
Kambarami has played a significant role in two recent national awards won by the Northerns Cricket Union. Northerns walked away with the spoils as overall incentive scorecard-winner, an initiative conceptualized by Cricket South Africa.
