SPORT: Tuks show Bartlett the door

The 45-year-old former Bafana Bafana international spent over two years with Amatuks.

University of Pretoria soccer team has parted ways with coach Shaun Bartlett.

The club confirmed, on Tuesday that they would start the new season with an interim coach.

“We have amicably parted ways with Mr. Shaun Bartlett, and have in the meantime appointed Mr. Evangelos Vellios as the interim head coach for the season,” the club said.

The 45-year-old former Bafana Bafana international spent over two years with Amatuks after taking over from Sammy Troughton.

At his appointment in January 2016, he was tasked with helping Tuks survive relegation, which he couldn’t achieve despite a run of good results towards the end of the season.

In his two years in charge in the first division, Bartlett and his men have failed to finish in the top three.

They finished 10th last season with nine wins from their 30 games.
