Local law firm accept the challenge by #SteppingFor breast cancer

LGR Incorporated is an all-female law firm specialising in commercial debt collections and property law. Employees of this firm and their families are ‘Stepping For’ breast cancer this year in the SPAR Women’s Challenge.

The 2015 SPAR Women’s Challenge theme is ‘Stepping For…’ – a theme that encourages every race entrant to dedicate every step that they take in the race to a cause close to their hearts.

SPAR challenged every woman in Pretoria to enter the race and to step for one of the race beneficiaries, a cause of their own or for someone who cannot step for themselves. They then asked entrants to share their stories on SPAR’s social media platforms. Long time race supporter, LGR law firm, has stepped up to the plate in a major way.

LGR Incorporated is a BBBEE compliant, all female, law firm specialising in commercial debt collections and property law. They have been taking part in the SPAR Women’s Challenge every year since 2005. In their first year taking part they entered just 12 participants. This has since grown to 92 LGR representatives taking part in the 2014 race.

This year LGR’s directors, employees and their families are ‘Stepping For’ breast cancer. “We believe that every company and every person should be passionate about something and we are passionate about everything related to the upliftment and the empowerment of women in South Africa. Every year we have a theme or something that we want to achieve on the day so we are stepping for breast cancer this year,” says Erika Louw, a director at LGR.

12% of women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and Dreyer believes that spreading awareness of the importance of being tested is vital. “By achieving widespread awareness we could essentially save an entire generation of mothers, sisters and women,” she said.

Show your support and let SPAR know who you are stepping for this year by posting to the SPAR Women’s Challenge Pretoria Facebook page or to @SPARladiespta on Twitter and tag your post as #SteppingFor.
