Sport Highlights, 4 – 6 December
The Proteas are in India, the sevens Springboks are in Dubai, Bafana Bafana are in Senegal and some of the best golfers in the world plays at Sun City this weekend.
The Proteas have already lost the test series against India, but could restore a bit of their lost honour in the coming fourth test, especially after it came to light that the wicket in the third test was not up to standard.
Cricket
The fourth test started on Thursday 3 December and is supposed to last until Monday, 7 December. The test will be played in Delhi and the action will start daily at 06:00 (SA time).
Meanwhile the last two rounds of action in the league phase of the Ram Slam T20 series will be completed this weekend. While the Titans are almost already assured of first place on the log, they can build a lot of confidence for the final if they could also win their last two games this weekend.
Both these games will be played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. On Friday (starting at 18:00) they will take on the Highveld Lions and on Sunday (starting at 14:30) they play against the Knights.
Golf
For golf lovers, the time for Africa’s own “major” finally arrived. The Nedbank Golf Challenge, with prize money of US$ 6.5 million, starts on Thursday 3 December at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City in North West.
By late Sunday afternoon, the winner will receive the beautiful crystal trophy and the big winner’s cheque in front of thousands of supporters.
Sevens rugby
The HSBC Sevens World Series Tour comprises of 10 distinct events throughout the season, across five continents. Each individual tournament involves 16 teams – 15 core sides plus one invited.
The series starts this weekend with the Dubai Sevens tournament in the United Arab Emirates. The action takes place over two days with the playoffs starting on Saturday, December 5, while the final will be played on Sunday 6 December.
Soccer
South African football is still in the international window period and this weekend Bafana Bafana will play against Tunisia in the City of Mbour in Senegal. The game takes place on Friday 4 December and action starts at 17:00 (SA time).
