Titans suddenly the team to beat in Sunfoil series
After their second brilliant victory in a row, the Titans are now the team to beat in the Sunfoil four-day domestic cricket series.
The Titans got their second brilliant victory in the Sunfoil four-day series log when they crushed the Cobras in Cape Town by an innings and 50 runs.
This victory helped Henry Davids and his men to shoot to the top of the log after an initial slow start with two defeats in their first two games.
Shaun von Berg finished the game in Cape Town with 10 wickets as the Titans continued their resurgence with this excellent victory over the Cape Cobras.
The reigning champions made it two wins in two early on day three after rolling over the struggling hosts for just 115. Spinner Von Berg was at the heart of the visitors’ success, claiming a superb 5/25 in 10 overs to condemn the Cobras to a third loss in four matches. The 30-year-old also took 5/88 in the first innings to end with 10/113, the fourth time in his career he had claimed a 10-wicket match haul.

After Davids won the toss he sent the home side in to bat first on Thursday last week. With Shaun von Berg (5/88), David Wiese (2/45) and Junior Dala (2/42) at the helm, the Titans restricted the Cape Cobras to only 235 runs in their first innings.
The young Titans batsman Aiden Markram was again devastating with the bat. His 139 runs and the contributions of Farhaan Behardien (79), Grant Mokoena (59) and Qaasim Adams (51) helped the Titans to be able to stack up 400 runs in their first innings.
In the Cape Cobras’ second innings, Von Berg struck again. The home side had started the third day on 37/3 and needing a further 128 to make the Titans bat again. But they lost veteran opener Andrew Puttick (27) inside the opening four overs when he was bowled by Lungi Ngidi (2/21).
Von Berg then claimed three of the remaining six wickets to fall, including that of Justin Ontong for 20.
Stiaan van Zyl finished as the top-scorer on 32 not out, but there was little support from the rest of his Cobras’ team-mates.
Titans captain Henry David also chipped in with 2/22 as his team secured an impressive 19.92 points for their efforts.
The Cobras managed 5.7, and stay rooted to the bottom of the table.
