Donkerhoek just east of Pretoria will light up when warriors tackle the last race of the Jeep Warrior Race series at Legends MX, Gauteng on Saturday and Sunday 19-20 November.

The Warrior Race is South Africa’s biggest OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) series and promotes an active, healthy lifestyle while stressing the importance of being brave and overcoming challenges that puts your body, mind and spirit to the ultimate test. Its impact spearheaded the rise of obstacle racing in the country when it burst onto the scene in 2013 and it’s a growing popularity because anyone can participate. All you need is an old pair of running shoes.

With innovative obstacles, hardcore zeal and an emphasis on teamwork, participants are guaranteed to get wet and dirty, laugh and cry but still have an experience of a lifetime. With a choice of three distances, The Warrior Race offers athletes from different sporting backgrounds the opportunity to compete with one another, to live out their sense of adventure and to break barriers never thought possible.

Attendees can look forward to world class obstacles that will involve crawling through mud under a wire fence, battling up slippery slopes, jumping off new heights and running or wading through water obstacles. It gets bigger and better every year. The Warrior Race is not just about conquering the obstacles but also about being social and sharing stories with spectators and fellow Warriors alike.

On site will be a beer tent, where participants and spectators can kick back, relax, laugh and show off battle scars, as well as food stalls and vendors for energy fuelling meals (or perhaps that cheat meal that you’ve been eyeing…) TVs will be available at the bar in case anyone want to catch up on some sporting highlights and there will be locker facilities for participants to store their valuables, as well as parking guards.

Kids can enter the Warrior Bratz race or be checked at the Kiddies zone, where they can burn off excess energy while professional child minders supervise their play time.

This event presents playtime for kids and adults, getting down and dirty, facing challenges and overcoming fears while having fun, offering a helping hand and sharing stories of achievements and epic fails afterwards. It’s about being brave. It’s about achieving the impossible. It’s about beating the odds.
