Second setback due to rain for Titans in Ram Slam T20

Although two consecutive games of the Titans in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge were canceled due to rain, they are still firmly in first place on the log.

Rain was the big winner at the Wanderers Stadium on Wednesday night as the latest instalment of the Ram Slam T20 Challenge Jukskei derby between the Highveld Lions and Multiply Titans was abandoned in Johannesburg.

The wet weather arrived late afternoon and remained for most of the evening, leaving umpires Clifford Isaacs and Allahudien Paleker little choice but to call off proceedings shortly before 20:00.

It was the second successive washout for the log-leading Titans after their game against the Dolphins failed to take place in Benoni last Friday. However, they still managed to extend their lead at the summit – they now have 23 points. Albie Morkel and his men are still more than 10 points ahead of their closest rival (Cape Cobras on 12) on the log.

The Highveld Lions, on the other hand, join the Dolphins and Knights on 10 points in the next three places on the log.

This weekend the Titans will play in two important games in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge. On Friday (starting at 16:00) they will meet the struggling Warriors at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.  On Sunday, another of the tournament’s double headers takes place in Port Elizabeth. In the first game of the day at St George’s Park the Titans will take on the Knights. This game will start as 10:00.
