Latecomers have a few hours left to register for Tshwane Classic

The deadline for cyclists to enroll for this year's Tshwane Classic race is at 12:00 (midnight) tonight.

Entries for next weekend’s Tshwane Classic close at twelve o’clock tonight (23 October at 23:59).

Riders who don’t want to miss out on Pretoria’s big ride must hurry to www.tshwaneclassic.co.za to get their entries in!

With 6500 cyclists already committed to be on the start line on Sunday 4 November 2018, race founder Mauritz Meyer says the organisation is extremely humbled with the delightful support for the race.

“I would like to thank everyone who has entered and placed their trust in the City of Tshwane for the second edition of this amazing ride,” said Meyer.

Besides being the race head, Meyer is also at the helm of the Cycle4Food charity which is the official beneficiary of the race.

“The funds raised from the event are extremely important and enable us to make a remarkable difference in various communities in and around Pretoria,” he explained.

Various cycling commentators and thought leaders have followed the development of South Africa’s next city classic with keen interest. It’s the first time in 15 years that any city in South Africa embarks on the creation of a new mass participation cycling event.

With two weeks to go to race day it’s clear that the Tshwane Classic is the first significant next chapter for mass participation sports eventing in South Africa in more than ten years.

The cycling fraternity is brimming with excitement about the race following the successful first edition of the event which attracted more than 5000 cyclists last year.

The capital city now has a signature mass participation event with an operational plan which will allow it to scale incredibly in the coming years. With the support from the City of Tshwane the event is highly likely to continue growing.

It boasts full closure, a well-balanced and picturesque route and an affordable entry fee.  All these elements add to up to a success recipe.

The Tshwane Classic takes cyclists past several historical landmarks in Pretoria and presents distance options over 98km, 60km and 20km.

Besides the main events, there are shorter races for children over 5km and 500m at the Voortrekker Monument.
