Matsatsantsa will take on the 2021 MTN 8 Cup semifinalists Cape Town City at the Athlone stadium on Saturday.
SuperSport United assistant coach Andre Arendse said his side was unlucky to concede a goal late on in the second half of extra-time.
“When the first game of the season kicks-off and you have to go into extra-time, it’s taxing on the legs, it really tests you and I thought the guys who came on during extra-time did their part as well. In the end, we were very unlucky to concede late on, having gone 2-1 up,” he said.
“It’s the nature of the game and these are learning moments for us and we need to take all these situations and put them into our season ahead.”
United showed some positive feedback in the cup match including those who came off the bench such as Gamphani Lungu and Iqraam Rayners who scored first and second goals respectively.
This week Kaitano Tembo’s boys will work on how to approach their next match after watching them play against AmaZulu in the MTN 8 Cup this past weekend.
