Suzi Quatro is a name you don’t easily forget, especially if you are a rock music fan. Now the unstoppable Queen of Rock, is heading for South Africa again and will be celebrating her 50th anniversary tour in South Africa with exclusive performances at Emperors Palace on 24, 25 and 26 October. She is the first female bass player to become a major rock star and from the get-go in the 1970s, Quatro scored a trail of number one hits such as She’s in love with you.
Quatro has sold over 50 million albums and is celebrating her half century in the music business with a world tour. Apart from her own music career, South Africans will also know Quatro for her role as female bass player Leather Tuscadero on the popular television showHappy Days. Show producer Garry Marshall offered her the role without an audition after seeing a picture of her on his daughter’s bedroom wall.
Her last visit to South Africa was in the early 80s and was the last of the great rock artists that performed at the Coliseum Theatre on Eloff Street in Johannesburg.
