Meet Black Panther and his awe-inspiring powers, set in a spectacular, action-filled world of riches like no other – and shattering stereotypes along the way – when Black Panther starts showing in cinemas, including in the multi-sensory 4DX theatre at Nu Metro Menlyn, this weekend.
This new superhero blockbuster is based on the popular comic book and stars Chadwick Boseman in the title role, along with Michael B. Jordan and a high-ranking supporting cast, including a few local names such as John Kani and Connie Chiume.
IsiXhosa and other African languages can be heard throughout this new release from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Andy Serkis sporting a spot-on Afrikaans accent for his role.
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.
But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.
Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
