North man critical after crashing into tree

“Reports from the scene indicated that a light motor vehicle crashed into a tree next to the road.”

A man was critically injured in a single motor vehicle accident in the north of Pretoria on Thursday.

The accident happened around 21:30 on the corner of Elizabeth and Van der Linde streets in Wonderboom, Medi-Edge said in a statement.

“Reports from the scene indicated that a light motor vehicle crashed into a tree next to the road,” they said.

Medi-Edge said a man sustained critical injuries in this accident.

“The local fire and rescue services used hydraulic rescue equipment [jaws of life] to extricate the person from the wreckage,” they said.

“The patient received advanced life support treatment on the scene before he was transported to a nearby hospital.”

The exact cause of the accident was unknown, but would be investigated.
