Pretoria cops arrest six in inter-provincial vehicle chases
Two other people were arrested in separate incidents in the north of Pretoria and Olievenhoutbosch.

Six people were arrested when two inter-provincial vehicle chases were brought to an end by the Tshwane police’s flying squad at the weekend.
“Members were conducting normal routine patrols when they received a message through the police radio from Kwa-Mhlanga police in Mpumalanga for back-up,” flying squad spokesperson Constable Bontle Rahatji said.
She said the Mpumalanga police began pursuing the suspects after they reportedly robbed a Shoprite store in the province.
“Unaware that they were being chased by police, two suspects in a Toyota Quantum got out and stole a white Isuzu single cab bakkie,” Rahatji said.
Officers in the flying squad were then said to have pursued both vehicles, along the N1 highway, direction south.

“The chase with the Quantum ended at Walmansthal Bridge in the north of Pretoria,” she said.
Four people were said to have been arrested and one firearm with a filed off serial number and ammunition was recovered.
“They were detained at the Sinoville police station,” Rahatji said.
The group was expected to face a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The two others were arrested when the chase with the Isuzu bakkie came to an end near Kekana Gardens, in Hammanskraal.
“The two suspects were found in possession of two firearms with filed off serial numbers and ammunition,” Rahatji said.
The duo, detained by the Hammanskraal police, were expected to face similar charges as the others and an additional charge of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.
In a separated incident, flying squad police officers arrested one person for possession of suspected stolen property in the Sinoville area.
“The value of the plasma TV was estimated at R25 000,” Rahatji said.
