Manhunt launched for 8 suspects after SASSA robbery

Police in Motetema are searching for eight armed suspects who robbed the SASSA offices in Leeuwfontein outside Groblersdal.

LIMPOPO –  It is alleged that a group of eight men, armed with guns, attacked two on-duty security guards in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday). They tied them up and robbed the SASSA offices of the following:

  • A state motor vehicle with registration number CYS 943L
  • A Nissan double cab bakkie with the SASSA emblem on both doors, white in colour
  • Eight computers and
  • Four laptops.

Batteries were also stolen from two other parked state vehicles and one private vehicle. The storeroom door was cut off with a grinder where petrol cards, SASSA bank cards and the gate keys were stolen.

No arrests have been made and police investigations are ongoing.
