
LIMPOPO – The suspect arrested following a recent attack on a farmer and his family appeared in a local magistrate’s court yesterday (Thursday).
The suspect who was arrested by HPG members and Lezmin Security shortly after the incident in Du Toitskraal outside Marble Hall and was remanded in custody until 18 November.
Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe earlier reported that six suspects entered the farmer’s house, tied him and his family up with rope and ransacked the house on Tuesday evening.
According to a statement from the Heritage Protection Group (HPG) the farmer managed to free himself with the help of his wife. “When one of the robbers came back into the house the farmer shot him and the suspect died on the scene,” read a statement by the HPG.
Police are still searching for the remaining four suspects and appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of these perpetrators to contact Brig James Espach at 082 576 0743 or phone the station at 086 001 0111.
