Amukelani Rikhotso who was found guilty on three charges of culpable homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol and inconsiderate driving after an accident in which late Public Service and Administration Minister, Collins Chabane and his two protectors Lesiba Samuel Sekele and Marene Lawrence Lentsoane were killed, will be sentenced on 4 and 5 August.
Rikhotso’s sentencing was scheduled for last Wednesday in the Mankweng Regional Court but had to be postponed. “The presentencing report by the social worker was not ready for court proceedings to continue,” Provincial Police Spokesperson Ronel Otto said.
Rikhotso made a U-turn on the N1 South outside Polokwane on 15 March last year causing an accident in which Chabane and his two protectors were killed.
He was arrested and granted R5 000 bail by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court during his first appearance after the accident.
