[WATCH] Viral video lands Polokwane learner in hot water

The video sparked conversation on social media with some saying it is a harmless act, while others said it was a disgrace. What do you think?

POLOKWANE – A Gr 8 learner from Capricorn High School has been suspended after a video circulated of the learner throwing water at the school’s security officer.

In the video, the learner can be seen holding a bottle of water as he approaches the security officer and splashes him with the water before retreating. Bystanders cheered the learner on. 

The video sparked a conversation on social media with some of the comments calling for the expulsion of the learner, while others said it was just a harmless act.

The spokesperson for the Department of Education, Tidimalo Chuene, said they can confirm that the incident did take place on September 1. “The learner has been placed on suspension for seven days to allow for due disciplinary processes in line with the school’s code of conduct to unfold. We will give comment on the outcome once the process is finalised,” she said.
