Learners lend a hand at a local soup kitchen
The soup kitchen at the Anglican Church, continue to help the hungry
The soup kitchen at the Anglican Church, on the corner of Biccard and Devenish Streets continues to help the hungry by serving them bread and warm nutritious soup every Tuesday and Thursday from 16:30.
The soup kitchen serves the less privileged community of Polokwane and the number of people helped by this soup kitchen continue to increase.
On Tuesday, over 60 people showed up for a generous helping of bread and soup.
The Soup Kitchen also had a special visit from Pepps learners who came to assist the volunteers on Tuesday.
Kea Smith, soup kitchen volunteer, said there were too many people in Polokwane who had no roofs over their heads or food to eat.
“So we, as the church, try our best to assist wherever we can.
“At least they will go to bed with a full stomach, even if it is only a piece of bread and some soup”.
Learner Ntsako Mtileni said it was touching to see so many people coming out to receive food.
“This experience shows us how lucky we are to have food, clothes and even shelter when many out there cannot even afford a meal to eat.”
