Police urge residents to lock up

The Westenburg police are facing a challenge when it comes to house robberies and urge residents to lock their homes at night.
Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, said the community had a tendency to sit and watching television without ensuring their doors were locked.
He added that the incidents took place between 20:00 and 22:00.
“Because residents don’t lock their doors criminals enter their homes without having to break in, and rob them.
Do not just close your doors in the evenings, but lock them for your own safety. Also strengthen your neighbourhood watch, because if your relationship with your neighbours is good then they can help you in a crisis or emergency,” Mashiane advised.
