Learners win at national science expo

Capricorn High School learners entered the 2013 National Science Expo Competition, with the first round of the competition taking place at Nirvana Primary School in July.

POLOKWANE – Capricorn High School learners entered the 2013 National Science Expo Competition, with the first round of the competition taking place at Nirvana Primary School in July.

Seventeen learners from gr. 8 to gr. 12 competed in the first round and 11 made it through to the second round of the competition, which was held at the University of Limpopo in August.

Hunadi Mafiri, a gr. 11 learner, went through to the 2013 National Science Expo nationals, which were held in Boksburg last week Wednesday.

Results of the first round:

• Silver certificates: Makgabo Mahopo, Lethabo Mathibela, Matshepe Rammutla and Lethabo Letshokgohla.

• Bronze certificates: Shanon Tabane, Thato Makoko and Hunadi Mafiri.

• Merit certificates: Mokonyane Mphalela, Simphiwe Mojapelo, Xitlhangu Khosa, Koketso Nong, Boledi Mamaregane, Rhoda Tshiwilowilo and Pearl Maakgaga.

Results of the second round:

• Gold certificate: Hunadi Mafiri.

• Silver certificates: Makgabo Mahopo, Lethabo Mathibela and Matshepe Rammutla.

• Merit certificates: Shanon Tabane, Thato Makoko, Mphalela Mokonyama, Simphiwe Mojapelo and Xitlhangu Khosa.
