Mini cricket lays path for next generation

Limpopo Imapala Cricket (LIC) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently hosted a provincial seminar for its KFC Mini Cricket Programme for primary schools in the city.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently hosted a provincial seminar for its KFC Mini Cricket Programme for primary schools in the city.

Approximately 100 teachers representing about 80 schools attended the seminar.

Thabo Semenya from LIC and the CSA provincial coordinator for the KFC Mini Cricket Programme extended his gratitude to all the teachers who attended the seminar and to those who volunteered to participate in the programme.

“The theme of the seminar was ‘to go back to basics’ and that is what we wanted to emphasise,” Senemya said.

He said 500 schools in Limpopo were part of the KFC Mini Cricket Programme, which has been in existence for 31 years, with about 30% of schools nationally taking part in the programme.

Semenya also announced that there will be a KFC Mini Cricket Festival at the Polokwane Cricket Club on Saturday, October 12, where at least 1 000 children are expected to attend.
