MEC says learners have no reason not to be great

THE MEC for cooperative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs (Coghsta), Ishmael Kgetjepe, said there was nothing stopping today's learners from achieving good results as most of them were born in a time when conditions in schools were better than in the past.

THE MEC for cooperative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs (Coghsta), Ishmael Kgetjepe, said there was nothing stopping today’s learners from achieving good results as most of them were born in a time when conditions in schools were better than in the past.

Speaking during his visit to Risinga and Giyani High Schools in Giyani recently, he congratulated the two schools for being consistent in producing good results.

The MEC said those who were born after 1994 had all the resources they needed to be successful.

“You were born in a democracy, so there is no excuse for you not to make it big,” he said.

“Don’t wait for hand-outs. If you want to live like a king, you must work like a slave.”

He said there were incentives for achieving good results available.

Risinga High School obtained a 91% matric pass in 2013, while Giyani High School secured a 88,6% matric pass rate.

The Mopani mayor, Joshua Matlou, congratulated the two schools on their achievements.
