POLOKWANE – The charges against Mokgadi Kgohloane, the wife of former premier Cassel Mathale, in connection with illegal mining, were withdrawn on January 9.
Kgohloane was facing 15 charges relating to the alleged contravention of mineral, environmental and water laws.
Her first court appearance with five others was in August last year.
The five are Kgohloane’s co-directors in the mining company, Blue Platinum Ventures 16 (Pty) Ltd.
Hawks spokesperson, Capt Paul Ramaloko, confirmed the cases against the six suspects were withdrawn.
He said there was only one accused person in the case.
“Samuel Matome Maponya, the CEO of Blue Platinum, already pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in the Lenyenye regional court on January 31,” Ramaloko said.
