Book foundation to help children with disabilities

POLOKWANE – In honour of the late Michael Roy Baragwanath, a book club, the Big Mouse Book Foundation, was established by Ruth Stubbs in January.

A friend of the Baragwanath family, Stubbs established the foundation to honour Michael’s memory and to give children living with disabilities access to books for reading.

Michael, who passed away last year, was born with Tuberous Sclerosis.

“Mickey lived each day to the fullest. He lived every moment, laughed every day and loved without limits. He taught me valuable lessons and I carry these with me each and every day,” said Stubbs.

Big Mouse Book Foundation, together with Greener Tidings at The Farmyard, placed baskets at Greener Tidings where customers and residents can donate books to the foundation.

People can donate new or used children’s books as well as educational books.

“This is an initiative to help children, who are disabled and cannot access libraries or books, to read. The books collected will be distributed to children with varying disabilities in various communities in South Africa.
