CAPRICORN FM handed over 60 blankets to Kodumela Moepathutse Drop-in Centre and Lehlohedi Drop-in Centre in Blouberg last Tuesday as part of the Warm Winter Campaign in partnership with Pep Stores.
Kodumela Moepathutse received 35 blankets, while Lehlohedi received 25 blankets.
According to Elias Digangoane, Pep Stores regional people support manager in Limpopo, the aim of the donation was to make a real difference in people’s lives.
“We want to bring warmth to the needy this winter. That is why we donated these blankets.
The aim of our partnership with Capricorn FM was to plough back to the community that we serve. We are always willing to help. Pep Stores cares. The initiative goes hand-in-hand with the company’s culture, ‘sikhula kunye’, which means we are growing together,” said Digangoane.
Sylvia Lepako, project coordinator of Kodumela Moepathutse, said she was happy that the children would be warm this winter.
“Thank you to Capricorn FM and Pep Stores for coming to our rescue. We thank you for bringing warmth into our lives. We hope that this is not the end of our friendship,” she said
She said the centre catered for 166 vulnerable children and orphans.
“We are committed to working hard for a sustainable and improved quality of life. We want to develop in order to reduce the mortality rate, poverty, crime, and to educate the community about health matters,” said Lepako
Rebecca Mamafa, project coordinator of Lehlohedi, said this was the first time the centre received such generous gifts.
“Our drop-in centre caters for 52 orphans and vulnerable children,” she said.
Capricorn FM promotion coordinator, Mphago Rakgoale, said Capricorn FM wanted to ensure that needy people were warm this winter.
“Some of these children don’t have parents, so we want to show them our love and that we care. In future we would like to provide them with food parcels. We started in the Capricorn district, but we want to go to other districts too.”
He said Capricorn FM encouraged business owners and companies to reach out and help the poor.
