A formula for thieves’ arrest

POLOKWANE – Police officials made a strange discovery when they stopped a minibus on the N1 south just outside the city.
The officials stopped the minibus in reaction to a tip-off. The minibus was filled with tins of baby milk formula to the value of R100 000.
The two men who used the vehicle to transport the formula could not explain why they were in possession of such a large quantity of baby milk formula, where it came from or where they were taking it.
Polokwane police spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, said police believed the men were part of a syndicate that targets shops in the city. The syndicate stole baby milk formula from these shops and from other shops in Limpopo.
Ramoshaba said police thought the men were on their way to Gauteng to sell the tins of formula.
“The SAPS is determined to stop all crime and we applaud anyone who reports crime. These reports help make South Africa a better place, because they help us fight crime,” he said.
The men were arrested and expected to appear before the Polokwane magistrate’s court yesterday (Wednesday) on charges of being in possession of stolen property.
