TWO more suspects have been arrested in connection with a case of stock theft in which a live cow was discovered stuffed into the boot of a car.
Jeffrey (24) and Thomas Nkuna (32) from Nwamitwa, appeared briefly before the Ritavi magistrate’s court last Thursday and were each granted bail of R2 000. The two men will join the other accused, Ernest Shingange (30) from Rwanda village, Letsitele in court on September 10.
Tzaneen cluster police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said members of the road policing unit were on patrol on the Letsitele-Tzaneen road one night last month, when they stopped a blue sedan with a Gauteng registration number.
“When the vehicle came to a standstill, three passengers jumped out of the car and ran away leaving the driver behind. Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered a live cow stuffed into the boot of the car and arrested Shigange, who was the driver,” Ngoepe said.
He said investigations had revealed that the cow in question was stolen at a farm in the Trichardtsdal area.
