Internship adverts proclaimed fake

The department of public works, roads and infrastructure has rejected all so-called advertisements claiming there are internships available at the department.

POLOKWANE – The department of public works, roads and infrastructure has rejected all so-called advertisements claiming there are internships available at the department.

The department’s acting liaison officer, Callies Matlala said in a recent press release that the department had learnt that there were advertisements regarding internships at the department circulating on social media as well as a website.

“The content indicates the department is currently recruiting interested members of the public for an internship programme where the closing date is indicated as October 31,” he said.

“The department learnt about this matter after numerous calls and walk-ins by prospective applicants who wanted to know more about this recruitment drive, ” he said.

Also in the press release, the department’s MEC Jerry Ndou said the department would like to inform members of the public that the advertisement did not originate from the department and there was no such recruitment currently underway.

He said the department would investigate the matter and get to the bottom of it.
