Morning traffic’s a killer

A pedestrian lost his life when, according to eyewitnesses, he ran across the road in front of oncoming traffic in Munnik Drive on Tuesday.

POLOKWANE – A pedestrian lost his life when, according to eyewitnesses, he ran across the road in front of oncoming traffic in Munnik Drive on Tuesday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann urged the public not to cross roads where there were no crossings as this not only posed a danger to them but also to motorists. She also emphasised the importance of pedestrians being visible day and night to avoid becoming another statistic.

She also said motorists should adhere to the speed limit and look out for possible pedestrians.

Polokwane police spokesperson WO Lesiba Ramoshaba said the name of the deceased had not yet been released as the family still had to be notified.

No one else was injured in the incident.
