According to Levubu police spokesperson, WO Solly Mkhola, the bakkie was transporting farm workers when the driver allegedly made a u-turn and smashed into a minibus that was transporting people to Elim. He said there were about 14 passengers in the minibus and two people died at the scene of the accident, while 12 sustained serious injuries. “The deceased are a 46-year-old man from Mashau Madzhiga and a 30-year-old female from Mashau Mathwothwe. A culpable homicide case was opened,” he said.
In a separate incident, the Levubu police opened an inquest docket after a mentally ill man was burnt to death in his house at Tshakhuma Muhovhoya village last Thursday. “The cause of fire is not yet known, but investigations are underway,” said Mkhola.
