Golf boosts tourism
The Limpopo Tourism Golf Extravaganza attracted professional golfers and people from all over the world.
THE MEC for economic development, environment and tourism (Ledet), Seaparo Sekoati, urged residents to consider domestic tourism.
This emerged recently at the Legend Golf and Safari Resort during the second Limpopo Tourism Golf Extravaganza.
The Limpopo Tourism Golf Extravaganza, which took place on September 12 and 13 was organised by the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and Pele Pele Travel and Marketing.
The extravaganza attracted professional golfers and people from all over the world. The first Limpopo Tourism Golf Extravaganza last year was part of Tourism Month celebrations. This was officially launched on July 22 during a Golf Tourism Seminar hosted by the department of tourism, Ledet, Pele Pele Travel and Marketing and LTA.
The deputy minister for tourism, Tokozile Xasa, was in attendance at the Golf Tourism Seminar’s evening dinner.

Xasa said it was encouraging that the partners anticipated hosting the golf tournament annually to lure golfers all over the world to South Africa’s shores during the month of September. This year’s golf extravaganza was attended by 22 professional golfers, 60 amateur golfers from various provinces.
He said the event was also used to launch the 2015 Limpopo Series Pro-Am, consisting of six events, one being held at each of the six Limpopo golf estates, which includes Legend Golf and Safari Resort (Etabeni), Elements Private Golf Reserve, Zebula Golf Estate and Spa, Euphoria Golf Estate and Hydro, Hans Merensky Golf Estate and Koro Creek Golf Estate. The series will consist of five qualifying events, culminating again in a tourism month golf extravaganza grand finale at Legend Golf and Safari Resort in September 2015.
This year’s golf extravaganza was also used to launch the Limpopo Golf Pass. The Limpopo Golf Pass will stimulate domestic tourism and arrivals through the purchase of a Golf Pass, giving golfers green fees to play at any four out of the six Limpopo golf resorts, valid for 24 months. Sekoati said he was indeed optimistic that the Limpopo Golf Extravaganza would continue to grow Limpopo Tourism and enhance the potential of the province as a Golf and Safari destination of note.
