Polokwane TUT campus closed
All Tswane University of Technology (TUT) campuses, including the Polokwane campus, was closed on Saturday, but will reopen on Monday.
POLOKWANE – All Tswane University of Technology (TUT) campuses, including the Polokwane campus, was closed on Saturday, but will reopen on Monday.
All residence students were asked to vacate their rooms by 17:00 Saturday afternoon.
This decision from management follows recent protest action at the Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa campuses in Pretoria that caused extensive damage to university property and threatened the safety of students.
Last Wednesday classes were suspended at the local campus when students became unruly.
The students are seemingly upset over the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NASFAS) which will only fund half the university students that qualified for its loans and bursaries and the possible result is that 10 000 students across TUT’s nine campuses will not be funded.
