The murder of a woman whose decomposing body was found in a stream situated between Luthuli and Madiba Park on Thursday is being investigated.

POLOKWANE – The murder of a woman whose decomposing body was found in a stream situated between Luthuli and Madiba Park on Thursday is being investigated.

According to Seshego police spokesperson, WO Mothemane Malefo, the woman had been stabbed in the neck with a sharp object.

Bystanders at the scene said a learner discovered the body and alerted residents who live nearby.

One of these residents contacted the police.

No one at the scene was able to identify the woman. However, on Sunday the body was identified as that of Rose Moabelo, whose age has not yet been confirmed.

Malefo said Moabelo’s body was identified by her boyfriend.

He said that apparently Moabelo had been missing for three months.

“Her boyfriend said this was not the first time that she had disappeared without saying anything to him,” Malefo said.

Residents said they were shocked at the gruesome discovery, and they hoped the police would get to the bottom of the matter.

Malefo urged residents to report missing persons to the police as soon as possible.
