MARBLE HALL – A MAN who was allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen goods appeared before the Marble Hall magistrate’s court last week and was granted R1 500 bail.
He is due to appear again on January 13 next year.
Papi Mashiloane (27), from Marble hall informal settlement, was allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen clothes including shoes, a sound system, a plasma TV, toiletries, a cell phone and watches estimated to be worth over R51 000.
Marble Hall police spokesperson, Capt Lethunya Muroa, said while the police patrolled the area, they saw four men carrying luggage, which seemed suspicious to them.
“When our officials stopped their van, the suspects fled. The police officials chased the men and were able to apprehend Mashiloane,” he said.
In a separate case, also before the Marble Hall magistrate’s court, Thabang Moukangoe and Nick Makgopa were each granted bail of R1 000.
According to Muroa, the two men were also suspected of being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
They were arrested on November 24 in Leeuwfontein.
“It is alleged that the suspects broke into a house and stole clothes and shoes valued at around R8 500.
“The suspects are also facing additional charges of housebreaking and theft,” he said.
Mukangoe and Makgopa are also due to appear before court again on January 13 next year.
