MARBLE HALL – A YOUNG wife’s plan to smuggle marijuana into the Marble Hall police station’s holding cells failed when police officials cottoned on to her plan.
The 22-year-old woman tried to use a body lotion container to sneak the drugs into the holding cells where her husband was awaiting trial.
Marble Hall police spokesperson, Const Lethunya Mmuroa, said Fortune Gabasa moulded balls of marijuana and wrapped the balls in plastic bags. She hid the plastic bags in a body lotion container and tried to bring it to her husband.
“The police officials on duty searched the container when she tried to take it into the cells. Following careful inspection, the officials found the balls in the lotion. When they inspected the balls in the lotion, they found that it was made of marijuana.”
Gabasa was arrested for possession of dagga and released on R500 bail after she appeared before the Groblersdal magistrate’s court last Monday.
