MOLETJIE – RESIDENTS of Ga-Chokoe village, Moletjie have warned that they expect justice to be done and no bail to be granted in the murders of an 85-year-old woman, a three-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy.
The suspect, Tlou Frank Gajane (33), appeared before the Seshego magistrate’s court on Friday, while Ga-Chokoe village residents protested loudly outside.
The murders took place in November last year in Ga-Chokoe village and Gajane was arrested a day after the bodies were discovered. He has been in custody ever since.
The bodies of Maria Mokwatlo (85), Tumisho Tsweleng (8) and Thato Tsweleng (3) were discovered buried in an old water well in the bush after the three were reported missing by a neighbour.
The neighbour had realised something was wrong after seeing that Mokwatlo’s clothes had been hanging on the washing line for three days.
Dikonketso Tsweleng, the mother of the two children who were murdered, said she had looked forward to spending the Christmas holidays with her children. “I wanted to celebrate the festive season with my two children, and I had already bought them new clothes. I wanted my children to be happy like any other children of their ages,” she said.
Referring to the killer of her children, she said, “he is a monster and I hope the court sentences him to life imprisonment so that he can pay for what he has done and the suffering he has caused”.
Ward 15 councillor, Hamilton Morwana, said villagers feared for their lives as they believed that the suspect had not acted alone in the matter. He encouraged anyone with information to come forward and assist the police.
He added that villagers would remain united until justice was done.
Gajane was due to appear before court again on April 2.
