POLOKWANE – Family and friends of Walter Kichinani are mourning his death after he was killed in Greenside, Ext 44 in the early hours of last Thursday.
Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, said the 44-year-old was stabbed with a sharp object in his ear.
“He was certified dead by paramedics at the scene of the crime. No arrest has been made yet and the Westenburg police are investigating a murder case,” Mashiane said.
Kichinani was the manager of the car wash at Sasol Bendor. Johan Potgieter, owner of Sasol Bendor, said Kichinani was walking home from a soccer match when he was attacked.
“Walter’s cell phone was stolen, but the rest of his belongings were still in his possession.
“It is a very sad day for us at Sasol Bendor, because Walter was part of our family. He was our car-wash manager and worked for us for five years. Walter was a very hard working person, intelligent, and vision driven. We are going to miss him very much; his death left a huge void in our hearts,” Potgieter said.
It is still unknown when Kichinani’s funeral will be as his family is still busy with the final arrangements.
He leaves his son and extended family behind.
