Morulane: queen of vintage

SESHEGO – MAPULA Legodi from Seshego is the founder of Let’s Talk Vintage, which aims to motivate young people to pursue their passion for fashion.

A graphic designer from the Mopani District Municipality, Mapula holds a national diploma in web development from Computer Training Unlimited (CTU) and a national diploma in public relations management from Lyceum College.

She says she grew up wanting to be a fashion designer or interior designer.

“I have dabbled in drama, public speaking, music as well as arts and crafts. At school, I was one of those children who had a huge pencil case with all the colour pens because I would always decorate everything,” she says.

Mapula says she started Let’s Talk Vintage last year.

“I don’t make clothes from scratch as yet. I sell vintage clothes for women. I’ve always had a passion for vintage clothes, but never thought I would sell them until I met a woman named Vintiqueen at a fashion show, who inspired me to make money from my passion.

“After I saw that it’s possible to sell what I love, I then decided to give it a try,” says Mapula.

“Since I am a new kid on the block, business has been a little slow, but I am not going to lose heart because I am doing what I love. The little clientele I have so far keeps one going.

Mapula encourages young people to know their strengths, and weaknesses in order to be the best that they can be.

“You can’t plan and research forever, take action now for things to start rolling. Until you start you will never know what lies ahead.”
