Essay writing easy for these Cappies

Four Capricorn High School learners excelled in the 2014 Essay Writing Competition for Indigenous Languages, which was held by the department of sport, arts and culture in August last year.

POLOKWANE – Four Capricorn High School learners excelled in the 2014 Essay Writing Competition for Indigenous Languages, which was held by the department of sport, arts and culture in August last year.

The MEC for sport, arts and culture, Nandi Ndalane announced the winners at Mookgopong Primary School last Thursday.

The theme of the competition was 20 Years of Democracy.

Learners had to write about what they observed and experienced in a democratic South Africa during the past 20 years.

All high schools in Limpopo participated in the competition and Capricorn High School learners participated in three African languages, Tshivenda, Xitsonga and Sepedi.

Winners:

1. Lebotsa Mashamiate in Sepedi and Dakalo Ramabulana in Tshivenda.

2. Munei Tsanwani in Tshivenda.

3. Cheryl Hlongwane in Xitsonga.

The winners each received a trophy, certificate and a computer tablet.

Three of the school’s teachers received certificates for encouraging the learners to participate in the competition and guiding them through the process.

The teachers who received awards were, Nomvula Shivambu, Tshilidzi Maphaha and Mothobole Mampuru. The school received a certificate as recognition for participating in the competition.
