How to stay safe lesson by APD

POLOKWANE – With the aim to educate people living with disabilities, APD Limpopo hosted a safety awareness campaign at Centenary House on Thursday.

According to Johnny Graham, APD public awareness and educational officer, the centre hosted awareness campaigns throughout the month of March to educate people living with a disability on safety measures.

“We invite officials from various departments to share their experiences with Centenary House residents. Those who are intellectually impaired forget quickly and as a result, we host such events more often to remind them of the safety measures,” said Graham.

He said people living with a disability are very special and needed to be treated with love and care.

Sgt Valerie Maloba from the Polokwane police, urged the residents to avoid walking to town at night. “It is not safe at all to walk alone at night, rather go in groups to avoid being ambushed and attacked. You should also take your cell phones everywhere you go to be able to contact the police for help when being attacked,” she said.
