Men arrested for diesel theft in Mahwelereng

TWO men from Mokopane were arrested for theft on Saturday afternoon in Mahwelereng.

MOKOPANE – TWO men from Mokopane were arrested for theft on Saturday afternoon in Mahwelereng.

“Hennie du Preez, employee of Mogalakwena Platinum, and Mosses Nyoni, employee of Kekana Brick and Sand at Ga-Madiba, were arrested for theft after they were spotted at a brick yard outside Mahwelereng and the police was called by the company management for investigation.

During the investigation the police found the men with seven 25 L containers of which three of the containers were filled with diesel and the remaining five containers were already emptied,” stated Capt Steve Mabuza, from the Mawhelereng police station in a media statement.

Du Preez and Nyoni appeared before the Mokerong magistrate court on Monday morning and the case was postponed to April 14 for further investigation.

“A lot of theft cases have been opened by the mine and we have always had the suspicion that it is inside jobs.

“We hope that with this arrest it serves as an eye opener for the police as well as the mine management,” says Mabuza.
