‘Patel changed clothes 3 times that day’ Const David Nkuna

Rameez Patel bail application: In today's court proceedings Const David Nkuna took to the stand.

POLOKWANE – In today’s court proceedings Const David Nkuna took to the stand. Fatima’s family attended the bail application today.

Nkuna said he was called to the scene following reports that armed robbers had killed a woman. “I found her lying dead in the dining room and the head was close to the bathroom, her face facing up. There was no forced entry into the house,” Nkuna said. He said Patel changed clothes three times that day. When Nkuna arrived at the scene Patel was not there, but arrived about 20 minutes later. Nkuna said Patel refused to hand over some of the clothes he wore that day. Police got a brown jacket four days later. Other items of clothing had yet to be found.

According to the post mortem, Fatima sustained serious injuries to her face and a fractured skull before she was shot.

The post mortem results are available, but fingerprints not yet.

Patel had an injury to his finger, he told police he sustained this injury while playing cricket.

Nkuna said Patel is professional cage-fighter and a flight risk and should not be granted bail.

The bail application has been postponed to Thursday 7 May.
